Dr. Haris Silajdžić gave a lecture at IUS
On December 7, 2016, former member of Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dr. Haris Silajdžić gave a lecture at the International University of Sarajevo titled „Dayton Peace Agreement: 21 years later“.
Dr. Silajdžić was a member of Bosnian delegation in the Dayton Peace Agreement negotiations and during his speech, he stated that Dayton Peace Agreement was, symbolically, created in Bosnia and Herzegovina with all of weapons, millitary and soldiers.
„The 22nd of May, 1992 was our last chance to be recognized as a state and for the war to be recognized as an agression on the state, not just on a territory. Fortunately, we did it.“, said Dr. Silajdžić.
Dr. Silajdžić also stated that the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina is EU and NATO: „How comes that one of the oldest population in the entire Europe is not part of the union of countries, in our case EU? The first, second and third priority for you, the students, is education to create a better environment for your country.“
The lecture was organized by the Student Parliament of the International University of Sarajevo and it was part of the project SPIUS Talks which will be continued during the academic year.
